Painter Ridge Trail

 

The Painter Ridge trail is a cycling and hiking trail located in Echo Bluff State park. It can be accessed from Echo Bluff state park by at the trailhead near the visitor center. The trail has 2 loops, with some skill sections for cyclists to use. The trail is intended to be run in a clockwise direction for cyclists, with berms and wooden features to make a more enjoyable descent. Hikers and cyclists should be aware that this is a multi-use trail, with cyclists yielding to hikers. Painter Ridge is not an equestrian trail.

Painter Ridge has beautiful lookouts over Echo Bluff, and includes scenery such as wildflowers and small flowing waterfalls.

Preparing for the Trail

Hiking or Cycling can be a strenuous activity. Be sure to prepare before heading out!

  • Always let someone know where you are going, and when you plan to return.
  • Bring plenty of water and food, and don’t overdo it.
  • Download/print a map of the trail section beforehand, as you will not have cell service on much of the trail.
